Steve Bruce took advantage of the deadline to sign Willock on loan from the Gunners, securing him until the end of the season.
Willock was given an opening against Southampton, and it restored Bruce’s faith the next time around in his St James’ Park arc.

The 21-year-old scored in 16 minutes, holding on to Allan Saint-Maximin’s kick to shoot Alex McCarthy.
Newcastle ended up winning the game 3-2, with Willock playing a key role while giving fans a glimpse of what he can bring.
The Chronicle now claims that Willock has been producing ‘energetic’ displays in practice, making an instant impact within days of arriving from Arsenal.

Willock needs to impress on his time in Newcastle as he needs to show Mikel Arteta that he deserves a big role at Arsenal in the future.
Impressing in practice and scoring goals in games is the way to do it, and Willock has met both of those requirements in his first week at Tyneside.
