Brooklyn have decided to trade star point guard Kyrie Irving to Dallas.
According to insider Mark Stein, “one of the goals” of Nets owner Joe Tsai in this situation was to send Irving to the wrong club for him.
It was believed that Kyrie wanted to reunite with LeBron James in the Lakers, who were also interested in a deal. Instead, Brooklyn agreed to trade the eight-time All-Star to the Mavericks.
The Brooklyn club will receive point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, forward Dorian Finney-Smith, an undefended 1st round pick in 2029 and two 2nd round picks (2027 and 2029) from the Texans.
Irving during his time in the Nets repeatedly got into trouble. During the current season, Kyrie provoked a major scandal when he posted an anti-Semitic message. The club had to suspend the playmaker for an extended period until he apologized.
In the last draw, Irving refused to be vaccinated against coronavirus and missed a large number of matches.
It was reported that Kyrie’s demand for a trade before the deadline came as a big surprise to Brooklyn and his management.
