London: Joe Root became the highest run scorer for England in test cricket. The 33-year-old Root surpassed former captain Alastair Cook’s record. In his 12-year international career, Cook scored 12,472 runs in 161 Tests for England. Root reached the record while playing his 147th Test for England against Pakistan in Multan. Root needed 71 runs to surpass Cook’s feat. Now Root is at the top with 72 runs not out.
