Joe Mazzulla confirmed as Celtics manager

Arrived at the head of the Celtics during the last offseason following the Ime Udoka affair, coach Joe Mazzulla was still considered an interim coach despite Boston’s excellent results this year. But his status has just changed today since the coach has been confirmed in his role and even extended by the C’s.

Joe Mazzulla is well and truly considered the man for the job in Boston. Rather logical when you know that his team has the best NBA record at the time of the All-Star Break with 42 wins for 17 losses.

According to Tim Bontemps ofESPNlThe Celtics have therefore decided to remove the interim tag from Joe Mazzulla, a label he had since the day he replaced Ime Udoka following the latter’s setbacks. This interim status was justified at first given that Joe – only 34 years old – had never been a head coach in the NBA and that his taking office was linked to a completely unexpected set of circumstances. But given Boston’s excellent results this season, Mazzulla deserved a change of status and in addition, he also just got a contract extension with the Greens.

Joe Mazzulla should therefore remain the coach of Boston for a long time. The Celtics do not want anyone else to take on the responsibility of coaching following the fall of Ime Udoka (suspended for a year and who no longer seems to have a future in Boston), and this proves that Joe has the shoulders to ensure a function full of pressure.

From his first day as head coach, Udoka’s former assistant managed to earn the respect of his players, all during a turbulent period. And the results speak for him today. Even if some Celtics fans point the finger at his way of managing rotations and his management of minutes (in particular Jayson Tatum, second most used player in the NBA this season), Boston is the most convincing team in the League since the start of the seasonwith in particular the third best attack and the fourth best defense.
