Joe Cullen moved into the third round of the World Darts Championship at Ally Pally in London with a 3-0 win over Australian Darren Penhall.
The Englishman also had time for a funny video that is currently attracting a lot of attention in the darts scene. It shows him trying to throw an apple into a trash can.
His comment: “I always start my daily workout by throwing an apple into the trash can. But you have to have the courage to possibly miss it.”
With this video, the PDC Twitter account responded to a strange Tik Tok video by Michael Owen, in which the former Liverpool FC and Real Madrid superstar talks about formative childhood experiences.
In an interview, Owen says that as a child he was always looking for challenges. One of these challenges had to do with an apple and a trash can.
“I was watching TV in the evening and threw an apple into a trash can that was next to the TV. He was standing about six meters away,” said the 89-time England international.
“I had the courage to miss it too and leave a mark on the wall. “My mother would have gone mad and yelled at me,” Owen said. But his father’s reaction was much more important to him.
“My father nodded approvingly. My mother couldn’t be mad either because I scored,” explained Owen. “This self-confidence, this willingness to take risks, this recognition of my father. This is what I always longed for as a child.”
These statements obviously caused amusement among the PDC and Cullen. By the way, at the end of the clip you can see the apple lying next to the trash can. Cullen’s loud laughter can be heard.
The PDC didn’t miss the opportunity to retweet the video again after Cullen’s victory over Penhall, with the not entirely serious message: “The 3-0 win was only because of… (Cullen’s daily training routine, editor. )”
