Joe Cole suggested Chelsea’s Timo Werner be dropped by Frank Lampard – and urged the striker to work on his finish.
RB Leipzig’s £ 52million summer signing showed signs of promise in a Blues shirt but suffered a frustrating night in the 2-1 loss to Wolves on Tuesday.
The German has failed to score for the club since claiming the 4-1 win over Sheffield United last month, and he has struggled to make an impact against Wolves again.
Speaking to Amazon Prime, Cole claimed the team could cool off – and thinks Werner is the man who could make way for another player over Christmas time.
“I think Werner, when he comes out of that left he’s very, very dangerous,” Cole said.
“I just think he just needs to revise his finish, but he’s a young forward and he will.
“So I have no doubt that he will be one of Chelsea’s best players but there are options now and he [Lampard] must move it.
“Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi have to come back, refresh that at some point. Take Werner out, bring him back.
