Joe Biden’s science advisor criticized for meeting Jeffrey Epstein

Eric Lander has already been nominated for Joe Biden’s US cabinet, but his confirmation is still pending. A Democratic senator has concerns and demands clarification.

Washington – Two meetings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein could potentially remove Biden’s science advisor Eric Lander from his ministerial post. That reports Politico. Washington Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell is demanding clarification on Lander and Epstein’s relationship before he is confirmed to cabinet.

“We have a hearing on him next week and we’ll see what happens,” quoted Politico Cantwell. The appointment comes more than two months after the hearings for Joe Biden’s other cabinet candidates. Most recently there should have been a meeting between Lander and Cantwell, as the White House said. Cantwell’s office did not comment.

The meeting with Epstein and several other professors is said to have taken place in the office of Harvard biologist Martin Nowak in 2012, as it did then BuzzFeed News reported. Two pictures showed Epstein and Lander together, which should also have been seen on JeffreyEpstein.org. In addition, should Epstein transferred large donations to scientists at MIT and Harvard. Four years later, Epstein was found guilty of underage abuse.

It is still unclear whether Joe Biden’s science advisor Eric Lander will join the cabinet.

To BuzzFeed, Lander emailed the meeting as “an informal sandwich lunch [Nowaks] Institute to talk to different people about science. ”He did not know that Epstein would attend. He had no relationship with Epstein and only later learned of his “dirty story”.

The White House commented on and confirmed the meetings. “Dr. Lander met Epstein briefly in the spring of 2012, at two events with multiple Harvard donors, faculty and others, and he made the right decision not to have anything to do with Epstein, “quotes Politico a speaker. Lander had not asked Epstein for financial support, nor was there any form of relationship. According to Politico, the White House did not comment on the second meeting. (Tanja Koch)
