President of the United States (US) Joe Biden made quite a surprising confession. Biden is reluctant to run again as a presidential candidate in the 2024 US election if his opponent is not a former US President Donald Trump.
As reported by AFP, Biden said he was not sure he would run again as the Democratic Party presidential candidate if Trump did not nominate. Trump is known to be a Republican.
“If Trump doesn’t run, I’m not sure I will run. But we can’t let him win,” said Biden while speaking at a 2024 election campaign fundraiser in Weston, Massachusetts, Wednesday (6/12/2023).
Biden, who is now 81 years old, praised the ‘powerful voice’ of former US parliamentarian, Liz Cheney, from the Republican Party, who on Sunday (3/12), warned that the US would be ‘sleepwalking towards dictatorship’ if Trump ever once impeached returned to office.
It is known that three major US media, namely the Washington Post, New York Times and Atlantic magazine, released warnings about the threat that Trump’s second term might pose if he wins next year’s election.
At a fundraising event in Boston, Biden cited extreme language Trump used in his campaign, including calling his political opponents ‘vermin’.
According to Biden, this kind of language is similar to the language used in Germany in the 1930s, when Adolf Hitler was on the rise.
“Trump isn’t even hiding anything anymore. He’s telling us what he’s going to do. He’s not even in doubt about it,” Biden said.
