Joe Biden Wins Democratic Primary in South Carolina, Secures Path to Second Term – France Press

US President Joe Biden won easily and without any surprises the first electoral check on his way to a second term in the White House in the Democratic primary elections in South Carolina yesterday, France Press reported, referring to forecasts of the leading American media.

Biden, who relies on a significant number of black voters in this conservative state in the American South, won the primary against two other contenders by very large majorities, those projections showed.

The president himself, who was in California last night before traveling to Nevada before the next election on Tuesday, hastened to say that in November he will defeat his likely opponent from the Republican Party – his predecessor Donald Trump, adds BTA.

“In 2024, the people of South Carolina have had their say again, and I have no doubt that you have set us on the path to another presidential victory and another defeat for Donald Trump,” he said in a statement.

This first official vote in the race for the Democratic Party nomination, which Biden will almost certainly win, was primarily to test the level of voter turnout, especially among the African-American electorate.

In 2020, African-Americans from South Carolina, who make up a large portion of the population of this once-slave-owning state in the southeastern part of the country, helped Biden save his primary campaign, helping to clear his path to the White House.

Running against the 81-year-old president were little-known Minnesota congressman Dean Phillips, heir to a large ice cream and dessert company, and Marian Williamson, a bestselling author of personal development books.
