Joe Biden to go to New York and New Jersey on Tuesday after flooding

US President Joe Biden will visit New York and neighboring New Jersey on Tuesday, September 7, to assess the damage caused by the deadly storm Ida, the White House announced on Saturday.

Specifically, he will travel to Manville, New Jersey, and the New York neighborhood of Queens, according to a statement.

Devastating floods on Wednesday evening left 47 people dead in the megalopolis and its region.

Joe Biden had made a trip to Louisiana, the first American state to be ravaged by Ida, which caused catastrophic damage there, on Friday.

He took the opportunity to call for national unity against climate change, which increases the number of extreme weather events.

The Democratic president also took the opportunity to praise the merits of his gigantic investment programs, in particular in infrastructure, which he still needs to pass by Congress.
