Last week, the American president signed an executive order aimed at ensuring American self-sufficiency in a series of strategic sectors. For the moment, the text only provides for an inventory, in a hundred days, of the supply circuits for four products deemed to be a priority: electronic components (present from telephones to cars), batteries for electric cars, products active pharmaceuticals, and finally essential minerals. “Our supply chain must not be vulnerable to manipulation by competing countries”, explained Peter Harrell of the National Security Council.
