Reported Wall Street Journal, Saturday (12/18/2021), the Ukrainian military was interested in obtaining helicopters and ammunition destined for the Afghan military after Biden announced troop withdrawal United States of America (US) in April.
According to US officials, among the options is to send five Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters that are already in service with the Afghan Air Force but are undergoing maintenance in Eastern Europe.
Ukraine is also seeking 12 Black Hawk helicopters that the US has offered to the Afghan Air Force but has not yet delivered.

Pentagon officials declined to comment on the proposed transfer of materials intended for Afghanistan to Ukraine.
“We continue to work closely with Ukraine to evaluate the special requirements of Ukrainian forces,” said Lieutenant Colonel Anton Semelroth, a Pentagon spokesman.
In addition, US officials said, US and NATO ammunition and arms supplies in Romania and Bulgaria could also be made available to the Ukrainian military if the decision was made to do so.
“It is difficult to find military equipment that is in unused crates that are not being distributed elsewhere,” said a senior government official.
