So far, at least 78 people have been killed in the violent events that took place overnight from Friday to Saturday.
The balance sheet continues to increase over the hours. US President Joe Biden on Saturday lamented “one of the worst tornadoes” in US history after the devastation caused by a series of tornadoes in five states of the country.
“It’s a tragedy,” he said, “and we still don’t know how many lives were lost or the full extent of the damage,” while at least 78 deaths, including more than 70 in the only state of Kentucky, have already been identified.
In addition, the US president declared, without however establishing a direct causal link between climate change and the disaster that has grieved the country, that “everything is more intense when the climate heats up.” Joe Biden said he would seek advice from the US Environmental Protection Agency on the matter.
The White House strongman also announced that he would visit Kenticky, but stressed that he did not want to “obstruct” the relief operations.
