Joe Biden is expected to end this year’s presidential race with 306 votes from the Electoral College against 232 for Donald Trump, projects Edison Research, which assigned Georgia’s delegates to Biden, while Trump maintains North Carolina. Biden thus achieves the same number of Major Voters that Trump reached in 2016.
Despite the ongoing litigation, the results so far show that the state of Georgia will fall to Biden. Election officials, including the Secretary of State, have already guaranteed that there will be a recount, by the slim margin between the two candidates. This is a remarkable victory, as the 16 Great Voters in this state usually cast their vote for the Republican candidate.
On the other hand, the state of North Carolina maintained its preference for Donald Trump, who thus guarantees another 15 delegates. Still, the 232 votes at the Electoral College fall short of the 270 needed to stay in office, so Trump will feature in the group of presidents for a single term.
