US president Joe Biden was visibly emotional during an unplanned meeting with a priest who had given the last rites to his son, Beau, during his visit to Knock Shrine in Co Mayo, Ireland. Speaking to the BBC, Parish priest of Knock Fr Richard Gibbons said the chaplain who performed the last rites, Fr Frank O’Grady, now works at the shrine. Mr Biden requested to meet immediately, resulting in an emotional encounter in which the president laughed and cried. The president’s visit to Mayo concluded his four-day tour of Ireland.
