President of the United States (US) Joe Biden revealed that a 4-year-old girl who was a member of the community had been freed from being held hostage by the Hamas group. Biden hopes the Israel-Hamas ceasefire will be extended.
Reported AFP, Monday (27/11/2023), Biden said the boy was already in Israel. It is known that 17 people have been freed from being held hostage by Hamas.
“He’s free and he’s in Israel now,” Biden said.
Biden said the boy had suffered severe trauma. He said his parents had been killed by the Hamas group
“He’s been deeply traumatized,” Biden said.
Previously, the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip was still continuing. Now, 13 Israeli citizens and 4 Thai citizens freed by Hamas have arrived in Israel.
Reported AFP and CNN, Sunday (26/11), Israeli authorities said 13 Israeli citizens and 4 Thai citizens had returned to Israel. A total of 17 hostages were released by Hamas on the second day of the ceasefire.
The joint announcement by the Israeli military and the Shin Bet security service came after the prime minister’s office said in a statement that the government “received 17 hostages who returned home, 13 our citizens and 4 Thai citizens”.
In line with the Israeli government, Hamas also said it had handed over 13 Israeli citizens and seven foreign citizens to the Red Cross. The reasons for the difference in the number of foreigners released are not yet known for certain.
Hamas said it “responded positively” to Egyptian and Qatari mediators, after they conveyed Israel’s pledge to “uphold all the terms of the agreement”.
