Joe and Jill Biden earned a combined $619,976 in 2023. This is evident from the tax returns of the American president and his wife, which were made public on Monday.
Most of the nearly $620,000 Joe and Jill Biden earned is the president’s salary. That amounts to $400,000 annually. Wife Jill contributes $85,985 to the household budget through her work as a college teacher.
The two paid almost 24 percent income tax on their salaries, just over $146,000. They donated more than $20,000 to charities, including their local church and fire station. Money also went to the Beau Biden foundation, which is named after their deceased son and is committed to protecting children from abuse.
In 2021 and 2022, the Bidens earned a combined $610,702 and $579,514, respectively.
The declaration of Kamala Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff has also been made public. Together they earned 450,299, on which they paid almost 20 percent tax, more than 88,000 dollars. The couple donated more than $23,000 to various institutions, including three universities.
It is customary in the United States for the tax returns of the president and vice president to be made public, although Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump broke with that tradition. Only in 2022 were his returns from the period 2015-2020 released after much legal wrangling.
