Job student shot dead in German gas station during quarrel…

In the German town of Idar-Oberstein, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, a man shot and killed a gas station employee during an argument over the wearing of a face mask. This is reported by the German court.

The incident took place just before 8 p.m. on Saturday night, but the details were only now revealed during a press conference by police and prosecutors. A 49-year-old man wanted to buy beer at a gas station in Idar-Oberstein, but was refused by an employee, a 20-year-old student. The student worker refused to sell the beer because the customer was not wearing a mouth mask.

The customer is said to have returned home furious, only to return to the gas station with a gun. Again he entered the case without a mask, this time with the intention of provoking a reaction. He then shot the young employee in the head. The victim died instantly.

The perpetrator told the police that the corona pandemic had forced him to do this. According to the police, the man felt “pushed into a corner” and saw “no other way out than to set an example”. According to the perpetrator, the victim appeared to be “responsible for the entire situation”.

The perpetrator was unknown to the police. While searching his apartment, investigators found other firearms and ammunition. The origin of the weapons has yet to be clarified because the man does not have a firearms license.
