Job Interview Discrimination: Woman Rejected for Vice President Position Because She Wasn’t Wearing Makeup

American Melissa Weaver completed a job interview last month with a lot of confidence and a good feeling. She had tried for a position as vice president at a company where her experience and background would make her a perfect fit. But when she got an email a few days later, she was confused. The recruiter wouldn’t let her go to the next round… because she wasn’t wearing makeup.

The woman therefore took to TikTok to ask what she had done wrong. Because even though she wasn’t wearing any make-up, she looked well-groomed according to her own knowledge. “I had my hair done, wore a nice top and blazer and earrings,” it sounds. “Does not wearing makeup really make it seem like I don’t put any effort or care into my work?” Weaver wonders on TikTok.

Her video already provoked many angry reactions from others. “It’s ridiculous that women have to put on make-up to look professional,” he said. “This is discrimination. Not hiring you because you don’t look good? No man would receive this email.”
