NEW YORK – New York State will host the world’s first Disability Rights Virtual Career Fair and Employment Awareness Month (DREAM).
The fair will take place on Tuesday 25 October with more than 100 companies interested in hiring people with disabilities and nearly 8,000 jobs.
For the New York Dream to become a reality, we must continue to make our state inclusive, integrated and accessible to all, Governor Hochul said. “Disability Rights and Employment Awareness Month recognizes how far we have come to this end and an awareness that there is more work to be done to expand the rights of people with disabilities and ensure they have the same opportunities in the workforce of all New Yorkers.
VIRTUAL JOB FAIR
The 1st Annual Employment Awareness and Awareness Month Virtual Career Fair will be held on the following days:
- A Preview Day will be held on Monday 24 October 2022 starting at 9:00 am: During this preview day, interested parties will be able to access the platform, upload their resume and visit the different exhibitor locations to see job offers, videos and other information. This is an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the instrument and prepare for the live event.
- The live online event will take place on Tuesday 25 October 2022 from 10:00 to 14:00– You can see all the same content and also chat one-on-one with recruiters in your location.
- USE: To participate in the virtual fair it is important to register and upload your resume before the day of the job fair, October 25th.
- More than 100 companies interested in hiring people with disabilities.

Separately, Governor Kathy Hochul has also signed a law (S.7578-C / A.8549-C) that will allow the Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities to establish a voluntary training and certification program for employers. hiring people with disabilities and another law (A.8915-B / S.7746-B) that creates a new threshold on the percentage of a preferred-origin contract that New Yorkers with disabilities must perform. The volunteer training program will promote techniques and strategies that employers can implement to increase diversity through the recruitment of people with disabilities.
