they got married today

in the civil registry of Pradillo street, Madrid. The secretary of the court, the judicial lawyer, has officiated the wedding. Also present was the Minister of the Interior, a friend of the couple, Fernando Grande-Marlaska. After the unexpected connection, the couple left through the so-called “wedding door”, where the brand-new husbands usually go out.

The singer wore a mask and a straw hat, and was dressed in a blue suit, a black T-shirt and sneakers, in addition to wearing flowers on his lapel. Coronado helped him and husband down the courthouse stairs, in a dark blue dress, black flat sandals and also with a mask.

Among his friends was the singer Joan Manuel Serrat.

When the car arrived, everyone quickly left to avoid being photographed. Then they went off to lunch with the small group that accompanied them.

Sabina and Coronado’s was a surprise wedding only halfway. In early November 2019, the singer Joan Manuel Serrat revealed that his partner had knelt to ask his partner, Peruvian and with whom he has shared life and a house for more than 20 years.

The request for a hand took place at Coronado’s 50th birthday party. It was then that Sabina, 71, did not hesitate to kneel before her and in front of all the guests, some of them complicit in what was going to happen. There he gave her a ring and was not afraid to sing a poem for her. “We already know how ceremonious it is,” editor Chus Visor, one of those present at the party, told this newspaper in November.

The couple met in 1999 in a suite at the Sheraton hotel in Lima, where Coronado went as a photographer for the local newspaper El Comercio to report. After the photographs, that night they stayed in a bar in Lima, Coronado’s hometown, which is the daughter of the former president of the Peruvian Central Reserve Bank: Pedro Coronado Labó. He, of course, was a couple of hours late. The two had a partner then, but when those relationships ended they returned to contact: she sent him a long letter that it took him four months to decide to open. When he did, they met again in Mexico, where they spent a few days.

For years, the couple has lived in Madrid, in the central Tirso de Molina square, next to half a dozen cats, where Sabina composes and Coronado manages their agenda and affairs. During the forced confinement of the coronavirus pandemic, they were seen applauding medical personnel at eight o’clock on their balcony. These days they have not spoken to almost anyone, nor have they given interviews, although last April they chatted with Jordi Évole about the accident he suffered last February in Madrid, when he stumbled on the stage of a concert in Madrid and had to pass by intensive therapy. “I know that I wound up on a cable and that, in the next step, I hit the host. But the host was stronger than you think,” he explained. Sabina still suffered “a bruise on her head”, but she said that she was “quite well”. “I can’t play the guitar because one arm still doesn’t give much of itself,” he reported sadly. “That would have comforted me a lot in confinement.” She also mourned the death of her dear friend Luis Eduardo Aute.

This is the second marriage for Sabina, who on February 18, 1977 married Lucía Correa, more for interest than for love, as he himself has told: “I was a total hippie and I wanted to commit suicide by having to go to the army Then I found out a formula: if you got married, you could go to sleep outside the barracks every night. I immediately called every girl I knew and she was the only one who said yes. The marriage lasted for the duration of the militia. : a little”. In addition, the musician has two daughters from a long relationship with Isabel Oliart, Carmela and Rocío.
