River Phoenix (photo below) was only 23 years old and was a very promising actor in Hollywood. He started as a teenager in commercials and made his debut in the TV series “Seven brides for seven brothers”. He only became known with films like “Stand by me”, “My own private Idaho” and “Sneakers” (with Robert Redford).
He made two films with Harrison Ford: “Mosquito coast” and “Indiana Jones and the last crusade”, in which he played the young Indiana. River managed to win an Oscar nomination for “Running on empty” as a 17-year-old. He was also the one who would act alongside Tom Cruise in “Interview with the vampire: the vampire chronicals”. Christian Slater hastily had to take over the role of interviewer Daniel Molloy.
