HAPPENING TODAY – Today, October 28, 2024, actor Joaquin Phoenix turns 50. Oscar winner for “Joker” in 2020, Phoenix is now at the cinema with the sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux“. Presented as a preview at the Venice Film Festival, it is currently in all Italian cinemas.
Joaquin Phoenix was born on October 28, 1974 in San Juan, capital of Puerto Rico. Passionate about the world of cinema since he was a child, he made his debut as an actor in 1982 alongside his brother River Phoenix in “Seven brides for seven brothers“.
After a string of successes, he walked away from Hollywood following River’s death in 1993. Phoenix returns to the scene after two years, with one success after another up to the role of Commodus in “The gladiator” which will earn him his first nomination for theOscar. Two more nominations will follow for “Walk the line” e “The Master” and a win in 2020 as the protagonist of “Joker“.

The highly anticipated sequel to “Joker”, titled “Joker: Folie à Deux”, premiered on September 4, 2024 at Venice Film Festival. For the occasion, Joaquin Phoenix and the co-star Lady Gaga they walked the red carpet.

In all Italian theaters from October 2nd, “Joker: Folie à Deux” is a film that has caused a lot of talk about itself. Currently on Rotten Tomatoes critics and audiences agree in assigning the film a score of 32%. An extremely low rating compared to the 68% given by critics for the first chapter “Joker”, which rises to 89% if the public opinion is considered.
