Scene Jack Miller angry at Joan Mir also stole the show at the Austin MotoGP. Mir now revealed what Miller’s words were at that moment.
In the race that presented Marc Marquez as the winner, Monday (4/10) early morning WIB, the scene of Miller vs Mir during the cool down round actually raised curiosity. At that moment Miller looked very annoyed!
There is no audio recording the interaction of the two riders. But Miller was seen gripping Mir’s helmet while shouting at the Spanish rider.
Miller’s annoyance stemmed from the moment when the Australian rider was headed from the inside by Joan Mir, at turn 15 as the race entered the final lap.
This is not the first time the two riders are ‘hot’. In the Doha MotoGP, for example, there was a moment of friction Jack Miller and Joan Mir.
After the latest incident with Miller, Joan Mir also gave an explanation. “First, I want to apologize because I don’t like touching when I overtake,” he said as reported by The-Race.com.
The 2020 MotoGP world champion then explained that he purely wanted to overtake Jack Miller without any negative intentions. He also tried to do it with careful calculation, given Miller’s current pace.
“I went inside and he, in the second braking, made a move that I didn’t anticipate. I hit the curb to keep it from hitting him, (but) then I nudged him a little bit, and we were lucky not to crash.”
Joan Mir also insisted there was no revenge between her and Jack Miller. Mir even admits he would be just as upset as Miller if he were in his position.
“I stopped on the straight and waited for him to come to scold me, then he threatened me and did a number of things. But I can understand it in the heat of the moment. I think Jack is a good person and if I were him I would be just as pissed off!” said Mir.
So that’s what Jack Miller said to Joan Mir at that time? “He just said ‘see you at the next (race) or something. Australian style! I’m not upset with Jack because he is always respectful in racing. He is always a good rival.”
