Joakim was laid off from SAS

Night to Tuesday confirmed both The SAS management and the pilots that they had reached an agreement.

Former SAS pilot Joakim Stokke can finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

– If I end up getting my job back, I will be really impressed, says Stokke.

– We stayed on the ground

The 27-year-old was laid off during the pandemic, after only one month in his dream job as a SAS pilot.

The man from Trøndelag moved home to Selbu and started working at the local Coop Prix store, pending a re-employment after the pandemic.

At the same time, the subsidiaries SAS Link and SAS Connect were established. These took over aircraft and were filled with new pilots.

Stokke and hundreds of other pilots thus never got their jobs back.

– We stood on the ground and watched the planes take off with someone completely different. In the same uniforms and on the same squares, says Stokke.

Now it can bode well for the Trøndelag man and hundreds of other pilots.

For over two weeks, the unions have been negotiating and fighting for the pilots to get their jobs back.

It seems Stokke is impressive.

– They have really worked for us to get the jobs back, he says.

– Still the dream job

Now he is anxiously waiting to see if there will be a job offer from the airline.

– It will mean a lot to me. It is still the dream job, says Stokke.

He thinks it will be exciting to see in the coming days what the agreement actually entails.

– I hope it is an agreement we can stand behind that is worth accepting.

– I have full confidence in those who have negotiated for us pilots, he adds.

Lots of support

At home in Selbu, Stokke has received a lot of support from customers at the grocery store in the last two weeks.

– There have been people who have come to me daily during the strike and said that they so agree in the fight that the pilots have taken. They really think we have to fight and win, says Stokke.

Although Stokke hopes to fly again, he thinks it is sad to see the direction the company has gone in.

– I hope to have the opportunity to return to SAS, and maybe join in and build it up again.
