Joakim Kleven and “Skal vi danse”: – To the top of the odds:

On Saturday, it was time for the grand premiere of “Skal vi danse”, and twelve participants shone across the floor in the TV studio at Fornebu.

For the first time, viewers and the audience also saw two men dancing together, and Joakim Kleven (28) and Benjamin Jayakoddy (27) blew all the others off the dance floor with its terrific tango.

The whole hall rose in time with judge Morten Hegseth (35), who went with a ten on the points distribution, and thus helped to send the dance duo all the way to the top among the participants.

Celebrated with tequila

There is no Blue Monday for Kleven, who starts the day at home on Grünerløkka with breakfast and “Real Housewives” on display. Then Sunday and the return to the dance center were heavier.

– I was so drunk the day after the premiere. We celebrated with tequila shots, which was maybe a little silly. But we had to celebrate, we were a small group of participants and professional dancers. I came home at five o’clock and cooked sausages because I was so hungry, says a laughing Kleven to Dagbladet on the phone.

From bloody tango to playful jive – it’s not just-just to adjust to a new broadcast on Saturday. Heavy, elegant steps are replaced by light-legged, quick steps.

– If someone thought it was strange that two men danced together, we were shown that it is not. Next time it’s no longer about us being two men, now we’ll just dance. There will be a lot of contrast from the premiere, now it will just be playful and good atmosphere, he says.

Crying of feedback

The feedback from the premiere has been endless, and comment fields on social media are overflowing with praise for the dance duo. On his own Instagram account, host Marte Bratberg (32), Triana Iglesias (39), TV profile Amalie Snøløs (25) and artist Ulrikke Brandstorp (26) have joined the cheerleading gang.

Kleven reveals that there have been many tears of joy after the confetti has settled.

– When I came home after the premiere, I probably lay for an hour and a half and watched everything I was tagged in, and cried. I had received snaps from friends who were crying in tears, and then I also started laughing. When you see those you love being touched on your behalf, then you really feel the infinite love. I’ve never been near sports, but it felt like a sporting event. I have never done anything like this ever!

Warned of production

The family was also sitting in the hall, and if possible even more nervous than Kleven himself, mother Kleven was, he thinks.

– Mom was very nervous, and always says “put my nerves over to me”, but I can not, then she explodes. I think it was a relief for them too, that it went so well.

The 28-year-old can’t praise his dance partner enough in the clouds, and says that he feels incredibly lucky to have Jayakoddy as the second half on the dance floor.

– We had an absolutely fantastic evening together, he was ecstatic too. We were overjoyed, simply. I’m so proud of who he is, what he’s achieved with the choreography – he’s a genius. I could not have asked for a better dance partner, I’m so fine with him. I have been warned by the production that you will get on each other’s nerves and argue, but it has not happened yet, says Kleven and laughs.

Topper bettinglistene

Before the premiere, he was in sixth place on the betting lists. Post premiere he has shot all the way up to first place – in front of TV 2 anchor Simon Nitsche (29) and best friend Anniken Jørgensen (25).

– It is very fun and amusing. But that is sure to change. It’s a lot of fun that people have faith in me, but I’m really not thinking about betting lists like that.

He also tries to stay away from the comment fields, but the little he has seen has only been positive.

– It’s nice that people cheer, that’s what I should focus on. The wonderful family and the lovely friends I have, all in production in front and behind the camera. Nothing is going to bother me!
