JLL heads its subsidiary in Barcelona and optimizes its structure in Spain – idealista / news

The coronavirus has broken into the real estate business as a shock to review structures and change ways of operating. This is the case of the real estate consultancy JLL, which has decided to do without its director of office in Barcelona until now, Vanesa Carceller, as confirmed by the company to idealista / news. With this change, JLL has decided that there will be no more office managers and its functions will be assumed by Pere Morcillo, who will become responsible for the company’s business in Catalan territory and will make it compatible with that of Director of the industrial and logistics area in Spain.

“We work so that this vision and transformation are visible in our business in Catalonia. From now on, Pere Morcillo, current director of the industrial and logistics area of ​​JLL Spain since 2017, indefinitely assumes a new position as head of the JLL office in Barcelona. Morcillo will act as liaison between both offices for operational and coordination matters. The new structure maintains and encourages reports and responsibilities by business areas, regardless of where the service is provided. ”

JLL adds that its commitment to the Barcelona market is “total”, as reflected for example, the recent move to Torre Glories. “We have a strong and solvent team of professionals dedicated 100% to a business with potential and a clear future path,” they add from the consultant.

Vanesa Carceller signed for JLL in October 2018, releasing Mercè Franquesa, who until then was the person most responsible for her business in Catalonia. The executive signed as JLL’s general manager in Barcelona at the beginning of that year, but, nevertheless, she decided to leave the position by mutual agreement with the company’s management.

At the same time, Franquesa’s incorporation occurred after the departure of Luis Guardia of the management of the JLL business in Catalonia. Guardia had been in the company for more than a decade, who decided to do without him to give a new impetus to his strategy in Barcelona.

Pere Morcillo and the new JLL strategy in Barcelona

After having put three people in charge of this position in less than 3 years, JLL has decided to change its strategy and appoint Pere Morcillo as responsible. The manager has a long professional career in the real estate sector. Before joining JLL, he held the position of Leasing Director for Spain at Prologis since 2007, a position from which he led the generation of new business for the firm in the country’s main logistics markets.

Morcillo contributed to the growth of Prologis in this period, in which the developer’s portfolio increased from 200,000 m2 to 900,000 m2. Previously, he also worked in companies such as Cushman & Wakefield or CBRE.

In addition, the company landed at the end of last year in Torre Gloriés after reaching an agreement with Loom, the coworking company of Merlin Properties, owner of the building, to occupy one of the floors of the flexible workspace that the company opened in this property. and that it has an area of ​​820 m2.

Loom Torre Glòries announced its opening in late 2019 within the 22 @ complex. With the entry of JLL, the space reaches more than 90% occupancy. The center occupies the 25th, 26th and 27th floors of the building, with an area of ​​2,500 square meters, and offers 160 jobs.
