Indian Police Service Announces Key Promotions
In a significant advancement for the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS), a high-level committee has approved promotions for several senior officers. The decisions, announced on December 25th, impact the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, included key figures such as Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and the Special secretary Home, who served as Member Secretary. Their deliberations resulted in the advancement of several officers.
According to sources, six JKPS officers from the 1999 batch, currently serving as Superintendents of Police (SSPs), have been promoted to DIG. These promotions align with recently implemented recruitment guidelines. In addition,one officer with 22 years of service received a promotion to IGP,based on seniority.
While the majority of the anticipated promotions were approved, sources indicate that one IGP position remains unfilled at this time. The reasons for this are not yet publicly available.
These promotions represent a significant reshuffling within the JKPS and are expected to have a considerable impact on law enforcement and public safety in the region. The advancements reflect the government’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding dedicated service within the police force.
