Harry Potter author JK Rowling has responded to calls for a boycott of Hogwarts Legacy over its comments on the transgender community by saying those who refuse to play the upcoming game should also stop reading the Harry Potter books and watching the movies .
Rowling responded to writer/director Jesse Earl on Twitter after Earl posted a tweet saying he supported Hogwarts Legacy”precious“, as Rowling uses it”a permanent targeting platform and the justifications for its continued targeting of trans people is bad for trans people».
In response, Rowling tweeted that “the truly righteous will burn not only their books and movies, but also the local library, anything that has an owl on it, and their pets».
Rowling has been widely criticized in recent years for comments she has made about the transgender community and public appearances she has made alongside many in the gender critical community. Her outspokenness on her subject has made Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint object to the author.
