Mexico City.- the british writer JK Rowlingauthor of the famous series of children’s books Harry Potterappealed for donations to help children trapped in orphanages in Ukraine, promising to match those donations up to one million pounds (about $1.3 million).
The novelist retweeted a message from the Lumos Foundationwhich he co-founded in 2005 and currently raises funds to provide food, hygiene and medical supplies to those affected by the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis.
As Rowling pointed out in a message posted on her Twitter account, the money obtained from this initiative will support their evacuation from the country while supporting families and caregivers and providing psychological help to minors.

Rowling also thanked “those who have already donated.” for having enabled Lumos “to carry out crucial tasks for some of Ukraine’s most vulnerable children.”
