The Mavericks are reinforced with the arrival of two shooters: JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli. Luka Doncic was already managing to find unreal solutions, but if you put a Porzingis at the head of the racket and a Redick in the corner, it will send bombs from afar in Dallas …
We expected a transfer from Lonzo Ball and a buyout of JJ Redick, we will have finally had nothing for the leader and a transfer for the rear. The latter accompanies Nicolo Melli to Dallas when James Johnson, Wes Iwundu and a second round of draft make the trip to New Orleans..
The poor results at the start of the season could (in part) be explained by the loss of Seth Curry and therefore his skill from afar. With this transfer, the Mavericks rectify the situation by adding two shooters to the roster even if both know their worst percentage in career (besides a short stint in Milwaukee for JJ Redick).
On the other hand, difficult to explain this transfer in the short term for the Pelicans. NOLA loses a major element in the race for the playoffs, especially since it did not have a lot of long distance specialist. At least the Pels are gaining a bit of defense and toughness because Stan Van Gundy’s men are sorely lacking.
Note also that the Pelicans have decided to keep Lonzo Ball. No offer (s) up to, no doubt, in the eyes of New Orleans, but his file will probably be relaunched at the end of the season, since the point guard will be restricted free agent, and NOLA will thus be able to line up on all offers.
JJ Redick is heading to Dallas to bring address as the Pelicans win in defense with the arrival of James Johnson. But the most important thing to note in this deadline is that NOLA kept Lonzo Ball.
Sources: Dallas sent James Johnson, Wes Iwundu and a second-round pick to New Orleans to acquire JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli.
