NHL professional Peterka injured in second Sabers defeat
National player John-Jason Peterka and the Buffalo Sabers also lost the second game against the New Jersey Devils at the season opener of the North American professional ice hockey league NHL in Prague. One day after the 1:4 defeat in the first meeting, the Sabers had to admit defeat 1:3 on Saturday. On top of that, Peterka was injured early in the first third and was no longer able to participate.
The 22-year-old Peterka, who started his fourth NHL season with an assist on Friday, was on the ice for just 1:39 minutes before suffering an upper body injury after a hard check from Brendon Dillon. Examinations should provide information about the severity of the injury after returning to the USA.
Tage Thompson (9th) gave Buffalo the lead in the O2 Arena, before Seamus Casey (12th), Paul Cotter (48th) and the Swiss Timo Meier (55th) scored their second win of the season.
The first games in North America are on Wednesday night German time; German top star Leon Draisaitl will start with the Edmonton Oilers at home against the Winnipeg Jets a day later.
Miami is chasing records in the MLS with Messi
World footballer Lionel Messi and his club Inter Miami are chasing records in Major League Soccer (MLS). The club from Florida, which has already secured the Supporters’ Shield title as the best team in the main round, is on the verge of setting a points record in the North American league after winning 1-0 (0-0) at Toronto FC.
With a win on the last matchday before the play-offs against the previous record holders New England Revolution (October 19th), Miami can immortalize itself in the MLS history books. So far, Inter have collected 71 points, New England scored 73 points three years ago.

NFL suspends Buffalo’s Miller for four games
Two-time Super Bowl winner Von Miller of the Buffalo Bills has been suspended four games without pay by the National Football League (NFL). The league announced this and justified the punishment as a violation of the personal conduct guidelines. The 35-year-old will be available to the Bills again on October 28th against the Seattle Seahawks. It is not clear from the statement which offense the NFL specifically punished.
Miller turned himself in to police at the beginning of December following an arrest warrant. He was then released on bail. The Bills linebacker is said to have assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. According to police, the woman did not need to be taken to hospital but suffered minor injuries.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed that officers arrived on scene following a disturbance call. Investigations revealed that an argument had probably escalated. Miller was no longer there when the police arrived. Miller himself denied the allegations. He said the allegations against him were “100 percent false”: “I can’t talk about everything. But all the things that have been reported are completely false. Everything was completely exaggerated.”
