JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) is the first stadium in Indonesia to use hybrid grass (hybrid) or a combination of synthetic grass and natural grass.
This was conveyed by JIS Project Manager from PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Arry Wibowo.
“Then, the grass we use is this kind hybrid, it’s a combination of synthetic and natural grass. This is the first time in Indonesia, it’s at JIS,” explained Arry in a webinar, Thursday (18/3/2022).
According to him, the standard for using JIS grass is FIFA’s recommendation, starting from a mixture of synthetic and natural grass to the problem of thickness.
The composition of the JIS hybrid grass includes 5 percent artificial grass of the Limonta type from Italy and 95 percent of the natural grass of the Zoysia Matrella type from Boyolali, Central Java.
This natural grass from Boyolali is produced by local farmers who are experienced and specialized in making soccer grass.

He added that there are a number of reasons JIS is using hybrid grass, and not just about modern football field trends.
First, the durability of the field using hybrid grass is three times that of ordinary grass.
This means that JIS pitches can be used for a longer time span of up to 1,000 match hours.
