JIS Becomes the First Stadium in Indonesia to Use Hybrid Grass, What Are the Advantages?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The show Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) offers a number of new things when compared to other stadiums in Indonesia.

One of them, the use of grass hybrid which is a blend of synthetic grass and natural grass.

JIS Project Manager from PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Arry Wibowo said, JIS became the first stadium in Indonesia to use the grass.

“Then, the grass we use is this kind hybrid, It’s a combination of synthetic and natural grass. This is the first time in Indonesia, it’s at JIS,” explained Arry in a webinar, Thursday (18/3/2022).

JIS grass usage standards are FIFA recommendations, including a mixture of synthetic and natural grass to the problem of thickness.

Composition hybrid grass JIS includes 5 percent of artificial grass of the Limonta type from Italy and 95 percent of natural grass of the Zoysia Matrella type from Boyolali, Central Java.

It should be noted that this natural grass from Boyolali is produced by domestic farmers who are experienced and specialized in making soccer grass.

There are several reasons JIS uses grass hybrid i.e. not only about modern football field trends.

First, the field with hybrid grass has three times the durability of the grass field in general.

This means that JIS pitches can be used for a longer time span of up to 1,000 match hours.
