This silver one will probably taste like gold, won’t it?
Certainly. I’m happy to have come this far. When I saw the draw after I got bronze, I saw that Fabien Lamirault was going to be there and I didn’t think I could go on. To beat him here is big and I feel like a winner.

The Golden Pole stopped you at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. Couldn’t play against him today either?
We agreed with the coach that I will play more active pinkies. But it was crucial that he had great self-confidence. He’s been beating me for X years, he just won, that’s how it is and I’m not breaking down.

Does this medal also belong to the family? To wife Míša and son Jirko, who supported you in the audience?
Definitely yes, also to the entire organizing team, to the people who came to watch, they supported me on the phone. Most of all, the family, I’m happy that he’s here, and that’s the most important thing for me.

Is it a confirmation for you of the successful path you took after the unfortunate car accident?
If I hadn’t broken down, I wouldn’t be here. A person gets a second chance, his values change and his life goes in a completely different direction. I got hooked on this, I play pince, I do sports, I have a family and I’m happy.

Will another trip lead to Los Angeles?
We’ll see, I’ll think about it, but for now I’d like to hold out.
