It was after a tackle on Samuel Jonsson that Smejkal got two minutes for charging. On the way to the booth, the Oskarshamn player was annoyed and put a hand on the referee’s chest.
– There are no excuses, it’s very strict about that. He doesn’t even look at who is coming, but he pushes him away and then you get a match penalty, says Oskarshamn’s head coach Martin Filander.
Smejkal is now punished for the measure and suspended for two matches.
”Any form of physical contact with referees is unacceptable and, according to practice, should lead to suspension.”writes the disciplinary board.
Brynäs’ Oskar Kvist handed out a tackle on Tom Nilsson’s head. For that he is now banned for five games.
The disciplinary board lists three reasons behind the decision: the tackle hit the head, was handed out from the blindside to a player not carrying the puck and entailed a high risk of injury.
