The legendary singer Jiří Korn will not repeat the spectacular show at the O2 arena. The production company decided to completely cancel the added concert, which was delayed by three years due to the coronavirus pandemic. Apparently also due to concerns that the performance might not reach the same level as in 2019.
In the end, Jiří Korn will not perform in Prague’s O2 arena on September 22. An add-on concert to his 70th birthday show three years ago was unexpectedly canceled by the production company.
“Three long, complicated years have passed and none of us expected that so much time could pass before the planned rerun. Unfortunately, our production company, which is behind this unique project, now comes with sad news for us as well,” said producer Tomáš Ságl on Facebook.
The reason is supposed to be the uncertainty as to whether the concert would even take place on the scheduled date. “The situation in terms of technical, organizational and contractual complications is also such that it is not possible to guarantee the realization of this concert show in the form it had in 2019. For these reasons and to our great regret, we have decided to cancel the almost sold-out concert,Ságl continued.
In one breath, he denied speculation that health problems could be behind the decision. “Mr. Korn must be sick, right? Or is there something else to it? Apart from all the reactions of support, for which many thanks, and the knowledge that Mr. Korn is enjoying good health, I was interested in the message of Mrs. Lída from Kolín. I wouldn’t say it better, I quote: ‘Well, that concert in 2019 was unreal. Probably not quite everyone or everything, as it were, completely came together. And the producer cannot afford to present any truncated program after 3 years. Oh, and the whole thing will be built up, a few of those cloud performers may have to go into quarantine right before the event. And what then,’ ” concluded Ságl.
People who have tickets will get their money back. “The entrance fee will of course be refunded without any problem at Ticketportal and Ticketmaster advance sellers from July 25, 2022,” promised the organizer.
