Jinju City Public Health Center promotes various health projects for citizens
Promotion of hygiene rules to prevent respiratory infectious diseases and Gyeongnam’s first pregnancy congratulatory fund support project
Jinju City Public Health Center is making efforts to prevent the spread of respiratory infectious diseases such as whooping cough and chickenpox, which are on the rise recently, by encouraging timely vaccination and promoting compliance with daily personal hygiene rules.
In addition, we are promoting health projects for citizens, such as reducing the burden of pregnancy and creating an atmosphere to encourage childbirth through the pregnancy congratulatory fund support project, which has been in effect since last year for the first time in Gyeongnam.
Due to the recent increase in whooping cough and chickenpox cases, the city has urged people to follow vaccination and personal hygiene rules to prevent respiratory infectious diseases.
This year, the number of pertussis patients nationwide was 30,616 as of November 7, a 363.5-fold increase compared to 84 in the same period in 2023, and more than the highest number of cases before the COVID-19 pandemic (980 in 2018).
Whooping cough and chickenpox are class 2 infectious diseases that are spread through respiratory secretions caused by coughing or sneezing and are highly contagious. In particular, since it is occurring in group settings such as schools, caution is required to prevent infection from spreading within the community.
You should actively practice preventive rules such as timely vaccination, practicing proper hand washing, observing cough etiquette in daily life, regular ventilation, and wearing a mask, and visit a medical institution to receive appropriate treatment when fever, cough, or respiratory symptoms appear.
The pregnancy congratulatory fund support project, which the city is implementing for the first time in Gyeongsangnam-do starting in May 2023, is receiving a great response, with 3,087 pregnant women applying as of the end of October.
Those eligible for support are pregnant women who have registered as residents and lived in Jinju City for more than 180 days prior to the date of application, regardless of the number of pregnancies and income. A foreigner must be a pregnant woman who has resided in Jinju City with alien registration for more than 180 days prior to the date of application and must have a spouse with an address in the city.
To apply, you or your family can bring your ID card, pregnancy confirmation, resident registration certificate, and an abstract to the town/myeon office or administrative welfare center that has jurisdiction over your address. If you are a foreigner, you must additionally submit a certificate of alien registration and a certificate of family relationship.
The amount of support for pregnancy congratulations is 500,000 won and will be paid as a mobile Jinju Love gift certificate on the 20th of the following month based on the application date. The application period is from 20 weeks or more of pregnancy until childbirth. If you have already given birth, you are excluded from support, so please note this when applying.
The city announced that it will continue to do its best to reduce the economic costs of pregnancy and childbirth and make Jinju a good place to have and raise children.
