Jimmy Thelin Signs with Scottish Side Aberdeen: Elfsborg Coach Heads Abroad with Assistant Coaches

There has been speculation for some time that Jimmy Thelin will leave Elfsborg for a new adventure abroad.

So now it is clear. He has signed for Scottish side Aberdeen. With him he brings his assistant coaches from Elfsborg – Emir Bajrami and Christer Persson.

– The view on Aberdeen was great of course, but now, first, we have to do the best we can here in Elfsborg, says Thelin, who is still at the Borås club until the summer .

He has himself before him has been tight-lipped about a possible move. When Elfsborg lost against Hammarby 0-3 on Monday, he did not want to comment.

But only a day later it became clear – which was presented at a press conference.

Oscar Hiljemark is the new head coach at Elfsborg – he will take over on June 3rd. Hiljemark has a history as a player at the club. His career also took him out into the world, among other things belonging to PSV Eindhoven and the Italian clubs Genoa and Palermo.

When he put 2021 down the boots on the shelf at just 28 years of age surprised many – since then he has held various roles within the Danish football club Ålborg.

Elfsborg, who finished second in the Allsvenskan last year, have had a rather difficult start to the season. They missed out on the finals in the Swedish Cup and have four points after three games in the series.
