Despite his two straight losses against the Boston Celtics, Jimmy Butler was convinced this Thursday that the Miami Heat, who still have an advantage in the Eastern final (2-3), will overcome this tie and play the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets.
“We have to play better. Start the games better, with the starters, make it more difficult for them. They have a good rhythm from the start of the game,” he reflected at a press conference.
With a great display of basketball, the Celtics overwhelmed the Heat this Thursday (110-97) and revalidated the victory harvested two days earlier in Miami to get closer to 2-3 in the NBA East Finals and feed their ambitions of achieving a unprecedented comeback after losing 0-3 in the series.
In the preceding 150 league history, no franchise has advanced after going 0-3 in a playoff series.
The sixth game will be played on Saturday in Miami.
Butler, who this Thursday stayed at only 14 points, argued that the last two duels are not a good portrait of these Heat.
“The last two games are not who we are. It just happened that way,” he said.
“But this is easily correctable. You just have to go out and play harder from the initial jump,” he commented.
Butler also praised the Celtics’ defense for “grouping up in the paint really well” and for answering every shot “without fouling.”
