Jim Gottfridsson Leaves Flensburg to Join Pick Szeged in 2025: Swedish Colony Builds in Hungary

Jim Gottfridsson leaves Flensburg.

According to Sportbladet’s insider sources, he has signed for Hungarian Pick Szeged from 2025.

– I have no comments, he says.

Jim Gottfridsson has been rumored away from Flensburg for just over a year.

The question has mostly been about when and where the 31-year-old moves as he is under contract until the summer of 2025.

Last year there was talk of both Barcelona and Kielce, but both giants have either reduced their budgets significantly (Barça) or been close to bankruptcy (Kielce) since then.

Flensburg has also expressed a desire to extend.

This weekend the rumor started to spread Social Media that Gottfridsson was on his way to Pick Szeged.

Builds a Swedish colony

Sportbladet’s well-informed sources now confirm that Swedish handball’s biggest star has signed for the Hungarian big club, but only from 2025 when the agreement expires with Flensburg, where he has played since 2013. The length of the contract is still unknown to us. The transition is expected to be presented after the turn of the year.

– No comments. I have a contract until 2025, says Gottfridsson to Sportbladet.

In addition, Michael Apelgren, currently in Sävehof, and Jonas Källman, who played in Pick Szeged for seven years, will take over as head coach and assistant coach this summer.

Incidentally, Gottfridsson replied as follows The magazine’s handball spot at the end of November when asked who is the handball world’s most interesting coach at the moment (without getting to answer his current coach):

– I think two things: I would have liked to get into the head of Danish national team captain Nikolaj Jacobsen sometimes and I think that Micke Apelgren is very interesting with a very good eye for handball.

And the duo is apparently building a small Swedish colony.

Earlier this week, the national team goalkeeper Tobias Thulin, who has been playing in the Danish GOG since 2022, was ready for the Hungarians. The 28-year-old then signed a three-year contract valid from this summer.

On January 2nd, Gottfridsson, Apelgren and Thulin are united when the national team gathers for the upload to the EC in Germany.
