Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of the most iconic films of the 2000s. The romantic drama even won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. However, as it turned out, Jim Carrey was not so happy on the set of the picture.
This was told to fans by the producer of the film, Anthony Bergman. According to him, there was real chaos on the set – director Michel Gondry refused to lead the team, preferring not to voice even the banal “motor” and “stop”, which angered and disoriented the actors.
In particular, it was a completely new experience for Jim Carrey. Not only did the Hollywood actor challenge his role by starring in a dramatic film instead of a comedy one, but the director did not want to cooperate at all. The actors were literally “thrown” into the frame so that they did not have time to gather. For perfectionist Jim, this was almost physically painful.
According to Bergman, the Mask star then often got angry and shouted that this was “the worst shooting in his life.” The producer was helpless – he himself understood that they had no right to treat a world star like that, especially considering that the salary was meager in comparison with other actor’s projects. However, Anthony Bergman tried to calm Jim down by reminding Jim that they wanted to make a good movie, and Carrey was not on set this time for the money.
