After the death of his brother a few years ago, Jim Carrey is now suffering another serious loss.
Jim Carrey, 62, is mourning: his older sister Rita has died, as has her husband Alex announced with a post on Facebook. Her husband said she fell asleep peacefully on November 14th surrounded by her family.
The couple had been together for 16 years and “just got married last July in the outdoor wedding she had always wanted,” the widower writes. “We have traveled around the world and met many people who we consider friends. Rita was my best friend, my lover and my beautiful wife,” he continued. “Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone, even complete strangers.” The deceased’s husband also reminds the survivors in his post that Rita started a fundraiser for a local charity. He also informs that family and friends can remember the deceased together at a vigil on December 7th in St. Catharines.
Carrey has already lost his brother
According to her Facebook page, Rita had a career that included co-hosting a radio show and producing the YouTube show “Peet & Reet.” She was one of three older siblings of Hollywood star Jim Carrey, and the second to die. In 2019, Carrey lost his brother John at the age of 60. He died of a blood disease.
A year after his brother’s death, Jim said on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah that he wrote his book “Memoirs and Misinformation” for his brother John. He endured his illness “like a champion,” he said at the time. “This man never complained. He never said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t do anything because of what I have’ or ‘what I have to endure’.”
