Jihadist chained 5-year-old girl at 50 degrees and gets life sentence

Taha Al-Jumailly, 29, joined the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization in 2013. Between 2014 and 2017, the group was guilty of serious crimes against the Yazidis, among others, in Iraq. Thousands of them were kidnapped and murdered.

The jihadists waged a reign of terror in parts of Iraq and Syria, killing Yazidis males on a large scale and taking women as sex slaves. Boys have been used by IS as child soldiers.

Al-Jumailly and his German ex-wife had “bought” a Yazidi woman and her child in 2015 and kept them as slaves, according to prosecutors. Al-Jumailly chained the 5-year-old girl to a temperature of 50 degrees to punish her after she wet the bed. The child did not survive that.

At the end of October, the ex of the jihadist was arrested in Munich sentenced to ten years in prison for, among other things, participation in a terrorist organization and the death of the 5-year-old girl. That was one of the first convictions worldwide in connection with the persecution of the religious minority by IS.

And now Al-Jumailly has also been convicted. The Frankfurt court ruled that Al-Jumailly was guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity, complicity in war crimes and other offences. The twenty-something passed out when the verdict was given.
