What jewels will we have? The trends say that for the SS 204 that we saw on the catwalk, the musts of the moment are marking: sculpture jewelery (necklaces and bracelets primarily but also earrings); chains for necklaces and bracelets (thin and maxi, single and double and triple). Flowers, plants and animals for necklaces, brooches and rings. And then there is the hoop earring that never loses its allure. The stylists have proposed it in its most classic shape (golden and round), but also maxi and colorful or revisited in a modern key.
But beyond the catwalks, what is the real demand of buyers? “Important” jewels, even custom-made, considered investments that last over time. In gold and silver primarily, but colored rhinestones and pearls are also trendy. “After a long minimal phase, we are witnessing a return to important jewellery, even in size: rings and chokers that stand out, eye-catching earrings, both pendant and button, with a slightly ’80s flavor” says Mara Cividini, designer and owner of Bali1987. “Moreover, as in increasingly transversal fashion trends, there is a strong contamination between masculine and feminine. Men’s jewelery is once again the protagonist, but in a completely new guise: no longer leather bracelets and silver rings, but real pieces of jewelery such as pearl necklaces, bracelets and gold rings with diamonds. In short: let’s say that now he steals from her jewelery box”.
Here are the top five jewelry trends from the spring/summer 2024 catwalks
1) The sculptural bracelet
Colored, golden or silver. To be worn alone in maxi format (Tom Ford and Louis Vuitton) or mixed with other colourful, gypsy effect (Giorgio Armani).
2) Animal
An entire animal kingdom is a source of inspiration, from cow-shaped earrings (Tory Burch), to dragonfly necklaces (Erdem), without forgetting snakes (Y/Project) or XL butterflies (Blumarine). The choice is vast.
3) Hoop earrings
Hoop earrings always remain very popular, revisited and updated season after season with new proportions and details. This year they go with logo (Valentino), worked (Chanel), or extra big (Alexander McQueen).
4) Flowers & Co
The garden offers a great variety of inspirations. For example, the bouquet earrings with rose (by Balmain) or camellia (Chanel), a whole flourish of petals and precious buds.
5) The chains
The chain necklace has been on wish lists for a few years, so much so that it has become a timeless investment. From the thin choker to delicate threads, from the mini string (Tom Ford) to the long chains (Gabriela Hearts). All lengths are legal.
