Jewelry store robbed in Vienna: Witnesses saw everything

In Vienna, a nocturnal adventure for two 17-year-olds came to an abrupt end: after breaking into a jewelry store, they were caught by the police. Thanks to alert witnesses, the escape of the burglars was quickly stopped.

In the early morning hours of November 3, 2024, at 1:40 a.m., the police were called to a break-in at a jewelry store on Meidlinger Hauptstrasse. Witnesses said that two people used a tool to break the shop’s window and then fled.

Escape failed: police arrest young people after break-in

Based on these tips and a detailed description of the person, the police immediately launched an investigation. As a result of the quick action of the officers, the two 17-year-old suspects, one from Romania and the other from Austria, were picked up near the scene of the crime and temporarily arrested. Both teenagers are now in police custody. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office, Southern branch, has taken over the investigation to clarify more details and shed light on the background of the break-in.
