From Cork Boutiques to Global Dreams: Irish Jeweler Stays True to Her Vision Amidst Crafty Copycats
Beth Haughton, a familiar face in the Cork culinary and fashion scene, has seamlessly transitioned her entrepreneurial spirit into the world of jewelry design. Her brand, LoveBeth, features vibrant bracelets, necklaces, and rings crafted with a mix of crystals, neon beads, pearls, and stones. Ain’t these beauties just a little bit magical?
This year, Beth encountered a familiar entrepreneurial hurdle: knock-offs. A fellow Irish small business was peddling pieces strikingly similar to her unique designs at a significantly lower price point.
"I was truly upset at first," she confessed, "but then I kind of put it into perspective and told myself, ‘I am incredibly fortunate to have a constant stream of new ideas’."
Beth’s mature approach to this common challenge speaks volumes about her resilience and vision. "People will always draw inspiration, and while I understand that, I won’t let it consume me," she affirmed.
While other instances of imitation have popped up, Beth chooses to ‘let it go’. Once the erring companies agreed to cease production of the copycats, she opted to move on, focusing on creating more stunning pieces for her loyal fanbase.
"It’s a mixture of everything," Beth explained when asked about the price difference between her handcrafted pieces and the cheaper knock-offs. "My colorful, rubber beads are biodegradable – it’s important to me that my environmental footprint is small. Every piece is also handmade, and I use 14-karat gold-filled findings for a touch of luxury."
Beth goes above and beyond by sourcing high-quality materials from around the world, including Swarovski pearls, crystals imported from Austria, gold from Los Angeles and Singapore. Even the beautiful, linen bags that package her creations are handmade by a talented artisan in Latvia.
“I want my customers to feel like they are receiving something truly special,” she shared.
Beth has also found support from influential Irish figures like Jessica O’Mahoney. "Jessica is a genuine and brilliant customer," Beth emphasized. " I’ve known her for years, and when I first started, she was immediately drawn to my jewelry. It’s fantastic because she truly rocks my pieces."
O’Mahoney, known for her effortlessly chic style, has consistently showcased Beth’s creations, becoming an appreciated ambassador for the brand.
Looking ahead, Beth dreams of seeing LoveBeth grace the shelves of iconic retailers. "Liberty in London would be a dream come true," she said, recalling fond childhood memories of visiting the glamorous department store. "It’s such a beautiful space, always leaving me feeling inspired. And here in Ireland, Brown Thomas is so iconic, I’d absolutely love to be there as well."
However, Beth’s affection for boutique shops remains strong. "I’m also passionate about being stocked in boutiques all over Ireland," she said. "These businesses have such passionate owners who truly champion unique labels."
One thing’s for sure – Beth Haughton’s creative flame burns bright, and she’s determined to make her mark on the international jewelry scene, one unique, handcrafted piece at a time.

**World Today news** sat down with Beth to discuss her journey, the challenges she faces, and her aspirations for the future.
**WTN:** Beth, your journey from managing a bustling café to designing eye-catching jewelry is truly inspiring. What sparked this creative transition?
**Beth Haughton:** To be honest, it all started with a simple desire to create. I’ve always been drawn to colors and textures, and I loved the idea of making something stunning that people could wear and cherish. The café was a splendid experience, but my heart yearned for a more tactile expression of creativity.
