Jets quarterback Mike White has been cleared and will return this week against the Seahawks, a team source not authorized to speak publicly about the situation confirmed to Athleticism Monday. Brian Costello of the New York Post was the first to report the story. Here’s what you need to know:
- White injured his ribs in a loss to the Bills in Week 14 and did not play in the Jets’ last two games against the Lions and Jaguars.
- New York is coming off a 19-3 loss to Jacksonville that saw Zach Wilson throwing just 9 of 18 passes for 92 yards and one interception.
- In his three starts this season, White has thrown for 952 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 62% of pass attempts.

What White’s return means for the Jets
White couldn’t come back at a better time for the Jets. Just as playoff hopes seemed dead after losing a fourth straight game to the Jaguars on Thursday, everything the Jets needed to happen this week, namely losses to the Dolphins and Patriots, has happened, and so now they’re in a position where if they win their last two games against the Seahawks and Dolphins, they will likely make the playoffs.
White is technically only 1-2 as a starter this year, but both losses were close games to two of the best teams in the NFL (Vikings and Bills), and there’s no denying the Jets offense has a lot better with the white to the QB than with Wilson. In three games, White threw for 952 yards, which would project over 5,000 yards in an entire season. His first game back will be against a 25.3 ppg Seahawks team, which ranks 29th in the NFL. — Rosenblatt
