Cars from the Chinese auto company Jetour may begin to be produced under contract at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. Interlocutors familiar with the progress of negotiations between the Russian and Chinese sides told Auto Mail.Ru about this
According to sources, the negotiation process is currently underway, the final decision has not yet been made. If an agreement is reached, then in 2024 Avtotor will begin large-scale assembly of the X90 Plus, X70 Plus and Dashing crossovers (pictured).
The fact that the Chinese concern Jetour intends to assemble cars in Russia was previously reported by the media, citing a statement by Jack Chen, Jetour’s general director for international markets. He told reporters that when it comes to car production, the company is “open to any options for cooperation and is ready to discuss various formats,” including a partnership project or the purchase of its own plant from among those idle in Russia.
Chen also noted that the production of cars in Russia involves carrying out relevant research and development work (R&D) together with Russian engineers.
The Jetour automobile brand is represented in Russia by three models: Jetour X90 Plus, X70 Plus and Dashing. Previously, the company announced that in 2024 the T2 crossover, known in China as Traveler, will enter the Russian market.
In July, Auto Mail.Ru learned that the Jetour T3 frame SUV will be delivered to Russia after it goes on sale in China in 2025.
