JetBlue Flight 1256 Turbulence Incident: 8 Passengers Hospitalized – CBS News Report

The JetBlue flight experienced turbulence before landing in Florida. A total of 8 passengers were rushed to hospital after landing.

Reported CBS NewsThursday (28/9/2023) on Monday (25/9) JetBlue flight 1256, flying from Guayaquil, Ecuador to Fort Lauderdale, experienced severe turbulence that occurred suddenly as it approached Florida.

JerBule airline officials said that after landing safely at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, a medical team took seven passengers and one crew member to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. The nature of the injuries suffered is not yet known.

“JetBlue will work to support our customers and crew members,” the official added. He revealed that the plane that experienced turbulence had been removed from service for inspection.

On Monday afternoon, the National Transportation Safety Board announced that it was opening an investigation into the incident.

“The NTSB has opened an investigation into today’s turbulence incident that occurred on JetBlue #1256, an Airbus A320, during a cruise flight near Jamaica while en route from Guayaquil, Ecuador to Fort Lauderdale, Florida,” the agency said in a tweet.

“Many injuries were reported,” he added.

Various cases of turbulence occurred

Nearly a month ago, 11 people were hospitalized after a Delta flight encountered severe turbulence while approaching Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Customers and crew of Delta Flight 175 were among those injured.

In March, one person was killed when a Bombardier CL30 jet flying from Dillant-Hopkins Airport in New Hampshire to Leesburg Executive Airport in Virginia encountered severe turbulence. The flight had to be diverted to Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

Several people were hospitalized in another incident in March after a Lufthansa flight from Austin to Frankfurt, Germany, hit turbulence and was forced to make an emergency landing at Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

The following day, around 20 passengers and crew on a Condor flight from Frankfurt to Mauritius were injured due to turbulence.
